There are many different variations of blackjack and many of them can be played in any of the online casinos that we recommend. If you are looking to play blackjack or a variation of it then we recommend the casinos below.
Blackjack Game Variations
European Blackjack
This is the blackjack variation played mostly at casinos in Europe & Asia. There will be 6-8 decks in play, and the dealer will receive either one or two cards initially. The dealer will sit on soft 17 and double downs are only permitted on a two card total of 9,10 or 11. Surrender is rarely offered under the usual European blackjack rules.
Las Vegas Strip Blackjack
This is the same variation of blackjack played at most casinos on the Las Vegas strip and throughout the USA. There are usually 4 decks in play and the dealer will deal themselves two cards, one face down, one face up. The dealer will check for blackjack before allowing the player to act on their hands, and will take a card on soft 17. Depending on the casino house rules, things like the option to surrender, how many splits are allowed and whether you can double down on split hands will vary.
Single Deck Blackjack
As the name sounds, single deck blackjack is played with just one deck of cards and is very popular in Las Vegas. The game is played according to Las Vegas strip rules with a shuffle after every hand.
Progressive Jackpot Blackjack
This is where a jackpot prize offered for certain hands if you bet the extra $1 required to participate in the jackpot. At Go Casino you win the total of the jackpot for receiving four aces of the same suit. That means you need to be dealt two aces of the same suit, split them and then receive another ace of the same suit on each hand. You win 10% of the jackpot for 4 aces of any suit, $2500 for 3 aces of same suit, $250 for any three aces, $50 for two aces of the same suit and $25 for any two aces. At the time of writing the jackpot was close to $90,000!
Multi Player Blackjack
Online multi player blackjack is just like playing at a live casino blackjack table. When you join the game you will choose a seat to play, and other players will also be seated at the table. In this variation you take turns to play your hand and are able to chat and interact with the other players, but everyone is playing against the house.
Blackjack Tournaments
In blackjack tournaments, players buy-in and compete against each other rather than against the house. Players use betting strategies to try and end up with the most chips after a certain number of hands. When you lose all of your chips you are eliminated.
Pontoon
Pontoon is a British variation of blackjack and is played by 2-8 players with a single deck of cards. In Pontoon there is no dealer, with players taking turns at being the ‘banker’. It is similar to blackjack in that an ace and any ten value card is the highest possible hand – known as a ‘Pontoon’. The second best possible hand is having any 5 cards that total less than 21 – known as a ‘five card trick’.
